Good morning! While the word hope is not written in the verses we will read today, the verses are filled with hope. May the Lord bless your reading today.
Bible Verse: Lamentations 3:31-33 NLT
“31 For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever.
32 Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love.
33 For he does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.“
Prayer
Lord, Your word is so assuring. It was written before we had an opportunity to experience grief, abandonment, rejection or punishment. Your word gives us new light and understanding to us during those moments or emotions.
Lord, even in the midst of our sins You were making a way for us to be forgiven. Even the times we lived in darkness and at times enjoyed it there we are grateful for Your light, the light that now shines within us. Lord, we ask for healing in the places sin and darkness once reigned in our lives. Lord, those memories are difficult for us to erase in our minds, but you Lord erased it and forgave us when we asked you for forgiveness. There is no one as great or as forgiving as you – we don’t deserve anything you have done for us, yet you sent your son Jesus Christ as a perfect sacrifice for our sins so that we can be forgiven and reconciled to You. Thank you for not abandoning us. Our hope is only in You and Your faithfulness.
Lord, thank you for the times that you have met us in our grief and deepest sorrow. Thank you for allowing us to know love, feel love, and express love to those we love and have grieved or grieve. Lord, you even wept at the tomb of Lazarus. Your word also states weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Lord, thank you for coming in the flesh to understand the pain of loss and to know the hearts of those who weep. Lord, comfort those who are weeping today. Lord, let the comforter comfort those who need peace and healing in their hearts and minds. Lord, thank you for your compassion and your unfailing love.
Lord, help us to be compassionate whether it is the loss of a loved one or another reason someone needs to feel or see our compassion. Lord, lead us to do things in a renewed space and mind. Help us to see you in every situation and lean into what you desire for us to do. Help us to be obedient to your call and live out a life that pleases you. Lord, thank you for your faithfulness, thank you for new mercies, thank you for never abandoning us, and for never intentionally setting out to hurt us or cause us sorrow. Thank you again, for your word that speak to us now and for generations ahead – it does not change. Continue to transform us and lead us today to be compassionate at work, at school, at home, with our neighbors, with our family, with our friends, in this world. In Jesus’name, amen.
