Rest

Bible Verse-Matthew 11:28 NLT

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

Prayer

Dear God. Thank you for a new morning and a another day for us to come to you in prayer. Thank your your mercy and grace this week. Thank you for leading us through difficulties and joyful times. You are the One who sustained us and kept us. You are the One who will continue to lead us by still waters and the One who makes our paths straight. You are the One who gives strength and the One who gives us rest. There is no One greater. You supply our every need and you bless us with so much more. We can never thank you enough for Your love for us.

Lord, this has been a long week. Lord, but even in the midst of it you have graced us to see your presence here on earth. All of your creation sings your praise from the sunrise to the moon fall, from the ocean waves to the desert sands. Lord, our prayer today is for us to go to you with our burdens and our worries, and find rest – be given rest.

Lord God, give rest to:

  • the single parent
  • the parents and grandparents
  • the one who is sick
  • the one who has not been able to sleep
  • the one who finds themselves without anyone
  • the aching hearts
  • those grieving and mourning
  • those without a place to call their own
  • the unhoused
  • the widow
  • the lonely
  • the weak
  • the humble in heart
  • the encouragers
  • the teachers
  • the pastors and church leaders.

Lord, continue to pour out your peace- give us peace of mind and heart. Lord, touch finances and let them overflow where they are needed. Continue to heal those who are brokenhearted. Strengthen our faith and our ability to believe You to do what you have said you will do. Lord, help us to live and be the person you have created us to be.

Lord, direct us today and throughout the weekend. Bless our families and keep us safe. In Jesus’ name, amen!
