Good morning! Today we will focus on a verse that will help us begin the week with the Lord in mind.
Bible Verse: Proverbs 16:1-9
“1 We can make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer.
2 People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives.
3 Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.
4 The Lord has made everything for his own purposes, even the wicked for a day of disaster.
5 The Lord detests the proud; they will surely be punished.
6 Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin. By fearing the Lord, people avoid evil.
7 When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.
8 Better to have little, with godliness, than to be rich and dishonest.
9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.“
Sisters and brothers, we can certainly make our own plans, but before we do, let’s consult the Lord so that we can receive the right answer. Let’s allow Him to give us discernment in our motives and let’s commit our actions to Him.
What will you consult the Lord about today?
How do you plan to find peace with the way the Lord will determine your steps today?
Prayer
Father God we thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to save us and reconcile us to you. We know that it is because of your grace and through Christ Jesus that we have been saved from our sins. Lord, thank you for the free gift of grace, mercy and salvation.
Lord, we want to begin this week with you. We want our plans, thoughts, and actions to be aligned with your will. Lord, help us to seek you for answers this week. Help us to lean into you and be comfortable with where and how you lead us today and the days ahead. Lord, we want to commit our actions to you and be a great representation of who you are. Lord, we want to please you.
Lord, work within us and transform us to be more like you each day. Help us to see things as you see them. Lord, when the enemy attempts to disrupt our day, help us to remember you and who you are in our lives. Don’t let us be led astray, draw us nearer to you. Lord, we pray for our jobs and the people we will encounter today. We pray that you will make yourself known to the unknown because of how we represent you in the workplace. Lord, we pray that we be good leaders in any space we find ourselves in. We pray over our virtual and in- person encounters, and we ask that you speak through us. Lord, we pray for those in charge and our co-workers. We ask that you lead them and help them to be light in dark spaces, easy to work with, and good for the organization. Lord, we pray for safety on the job.
Lord, we pray for all the children preparing for school today. We ask that you keep them safe from harm and from those who wish to harm them. Lord, cover them as they leave their home, while they are on campus, while they are in the classroom, and as they go home.
Lord, be with those who have medical appointments and/or treatments and/or procedures and/or surgery. Lord, be with the doctors as they prepare to treat patients today. Give them wisdom and discernment, compassion and support, as they conduct surgery, perform procedures, advise treatment and/or medication.
Lord, continue to work in us. Help us to be light in the world. Lead and direct our paths today. Give us clarity of mind, physical strength, cover our finances, and bless those who are in need. In Jesus name, we pray, Amen!
