Good morning. Thank you for joining me as we discover more scriptures with the word grace.
Bible Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:1-2 NLT
“1Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. 2 You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.”
Devotion
Timothy was mentored by the Apostle Paul. Paul was familiar with Timothy’s fears (1 Corinthians 16:10). Timothy’s was put into a position to share the truths of God’s word to others. Not just anyone but trustworthy people who would pass them on to others.
Apostle Paul wanted to encourage Timothy, that while he shared the word, that he should not be timid or afraid, and that he be strong through the grace that God has given him in Christ Jesus. God’s grace never ends. As we learned two days ago, God gives us grace upon grace. He also gives us spiritual gifts to accomplish what we have been called or purposed to do for the kingdom.
Romans 12:6-8 (NLT) “6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”
God continues to pour out His grace to all of us in various forms. It is not earned, it is not deserved, and it is not for us to boost. We are all unworthy on our on, but through Christ Jesus we can be strong and live without fear as we seek to do the things that God has gifted (a free gift) us to do in His name.
Sisters and brothers, sometimes we reject the gifts that God has given us. Let us openly receive those spiritual gifts and use them day after day.
What area in your life do you need to be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus?
May I encourage you to be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. Allow God to use you today.
Prayer
Father God, thank you for your unmerited grace that you continue to pour out on us. Thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to die for our sins so that we will be reconciled to you. Thank you for showing us your love and compassion. Teach us to continue to grow in grace and not get stuck in fear of the unknown. Lord, Your grace is sufficient in every area of our lives, continue to transform us to be more like you every day. Lord, we pray for those who are going through tough times right now and ask that you continue to give them strength, peace and comfort. Touch their hearts and minds. Provide what they need. Lord, we also lift up every woman on the registration list for the women’s retreat and we ask that you begin to prepare their hearts and minds for what they will receive. Lord, bless the volunteers, the speakers, and those who will lead sessions. Lord, cover us all as we prepare to display your love, share time with one another, and learn more about your grace. In Jesus name, amen.
