Good morning! Today, we will continue our Draw Closer series of daily prayers.
Prayer focus: knowledge and discernment.
” 9 And this I pray, that your love may overflow still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may discover the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ; 11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11 NASB
Dear God.
Lord, thank you for allowing us to come directly to you to pray on our own behalf and on the behalf of others. Thank you for a new day, a new month, and a new opportunity to grow in you. Thank you for always standing in the gap for us. Thank you for the overflow of love, knowledge and discernment that you give freely. Lord, there is no one more worthy or capable of being you or being able to hold us together. It is because of your love for us that we are able to live and have our eternal life secure in you.
Lord, forgive us of the sins that we have committed (knowingly and unknowingly). Help us to turn away from those sins and live a life free of bondage to those things. Lord, we need you. We need you each day, from the time the sunrises until it rises again. We need your peace in our hearts and minds. We need your wisdom and discernment in our thoughts, in our actions, and in our ability to share the gospel message with others. We need you to help our eyes to stay fixed on You- what is excellent and worthy of your praise.
Lord, we want to be transformed. We want our love to overflow in real knowledge and discernment of you. Lord, remove the callousness in our hearts and align it with Your heart and compassion. Lord, renew our minds so that we can stand against lies and shame that the evil one tries to entrap us with. Lord, suit us up in the full armor – cover us with the helmet of salvation to protect our head and ears from the viciousness of words that try to penetrate our sense of purpose and who we are in You; and give us the sword of the Spirit which is Your word and help us to hear and combat every battle with the promises you have spoken over our lives.
Such as:
- “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
- “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
- “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
- ” I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
- “The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.”
- “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Lord, we pray for those who are struggling with:
- depression and ask that you give them peace and strength, support and help to navigate through it. We ask for healing and full recovery. Lord, in the name of Jesus we bind the enemy who desires to take them out. Lord, send Your army of angels to those who are struggling right now and work Your mighty power within them to bring healing and restoration.
- illnesses and ask that you help them in the late night hours and throughout the day. Help them through their treatments and medications.
- loss of a loved one. Lord, you know exactly what they need today. Lord, comfort them and give them peace.
Lord, help those who will be returning back to school this month. Prepare households around the world for the changes ahead. Provide the resources that each student will need. Protect the students, teachers, and administrators from harm, bullies, predators, etc. Allow this to be a good school year with appropriate budgets, increased staffing levels, truthful curriculums that won’t harm children, and enough available resources to bring the students up to and beyond grade level.
In Jesus name, we pray, amen!
