The Perfect High Priest

Happy Monday! “He is the kind of high priest we need because he is holy and blameless, unstained by sin. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven. Unlike those other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices every day. They did this for their own sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus did this once for all when he offered himself as the sacrifice for the people’s sins. The law appointed high priests who were limited by human weakness. But after the law was given, God appointed his Son with an oath, and his Son has been made the perfect High Priest forever. Hebrews 7:26-28 NLT

Yesterday, I heard a pastor say, “Where would you be if you were given what you deserve?” As I pondered over that question, I looked over my life and began to think about the things I deserve. Then I stood in awe of the greatestness of our perfect savior who died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice – once and for all for our sins.

God’s word says in Micah 7:19, “Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!”

Lord, your word continues to reveal to us your greatness above humanity and yet, you still love us unconditionally. Father God we thank you again for sending your son, the perfect sacrifice. Lord you are perfect in all your ways. You are compassionate and merciful. Continue to speak to us. Allow your word to penetrate our souls. Speak to us and teach us your loving way. Help us to stand bold and speak to others about your saving grace, compassion and mercy. In Jesus name, Amen!
