Happy Friday! Have you ever received a phone call and you hesitated to answer it? May be you wonder what will the caller ask for, is it a telemarketer or is it something urgent. Many things will go through your mind, but you have the choice to pick up the call or let it go to voicemail. Today in 1 Corinthians chapter 1 Paul reminds us that we have been called. Join me as we finish chapter 1. May the Lord bless and keep you today and throughout the weekend. Enjoy today’s reading and your weekend.
26 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy[g] when God called you. 27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world,[h] things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.
30 God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. 31 Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”[i]” – 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NLT
What God and Christ Jesus did for us did not cost us a thing. Sisters and brothers we are always looking for the best deals, the free trip, the coupon, etc., but the best deal, the greatest gift of all is freely available to us all and that is the gift of salvation.
Remember:
- God called you.
- God united you with Christ.
- Christ made you right with God.
- Christ made you pure and holy.
- Christ freed us from sin.
Will you answer the call? _________
Today, if you are ready to answer the call, I want to invite you to receive Jesus Christ into your heart as your Lord and Savior, and your eternal hope.
The Bible says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans 10:9-10 NLT
If you believe this, pray with me:
“Father God, thank you for your testimony. Thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to save us. Lord, we confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ is your son, and that he died on the cross so that we will be forgiven and have eternal life. Father God, we believe Jesus rose from the dead and we ask you to come into our lives to be our Lord and Savior. Father God, we repent of our sins and because your word is true we confess that we are born again believers and cleansed by the blood of Jesus.” Amen.
If this is the first time you prayed this prayer, I want to welcome you to the family of God. I encourage you to get involved in your local Bible believing and teaching church to surround yourself with a healthy body of Christian believers. Also, send me an email so that a member of my team or I can connect with you.
Father God, thank you for sending Christ into the world to save us. Lord Jesus, thank you for calling us, for making us right with God, for purifying us, for making us holy and for freeing us from sin. Lord, we don’t deserve your mercy or your grace, but you freely give it to us. Lord, use us, our life stories to share with others your gracious mercy upon our lives. Lord equip with your wisdom and knowledge, and develop our understanding of your word so that we may apply it to our lives daily. Lord, humble us where we need to be humbled and build us up in the areas we are weak. Lord, give strength and courage to those who are fearful and transform them to be bold representatives of you. Lord, remove insecurities and remind us all that you are with us and in us. Lord, we pray those who are suffering from persecution today. Lord, we pray for those who are struggling with faith and trusting you. Lord, we pray for the lost, least and last. We ask that you open their eyes to see you at work in their lives. Lord, we ask that you reveal to them your presence in their lives and renew their hope in you. Lord, we pray for the sick, those recovering from surgery and those facing medical conditions that have been deemed by medical professionals as chronic illnesses or incurable conditions. Lord, we ask for you to touch each reader today and bring healing to their bodies. Lord, we ask for relief from pain and for you to give them the rest that their body needs to recover. Lord, we pray for those who are grieving. Lord, whether they lost a loved one years ago, last year, last month or last night, we ask that you bring them comfort and peace. Lord, heal them in a way that only you can. Lord, free them from the enemies trap of keeping them in bondage to grief. Lord, while it hurts, help them to process the pain by turning to you and not other addictive devices. Lord, keep us focused and aware of your people who need encouragement and prayer. Lord, use us to strengthen the body/church and people around the word. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep praying! Keep trusting! Keep pursuing the Lord!
