Unmovable Faith

Happy Friday! Have you ever tried to move something that was too heavy to move? Either you realized it was too heavy to move and left it or you created a plan on how to move the object. Just as somethings can be moved, faith can be moved, but with the right weight of the word of God within us our faith becomes strong and unmovable. Today we will conclude our reading in 1 Corinthians 15. Join me as we read Paul’s final verses in the chapter. Have a wonderful weekend.

Bible Verse – 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 NLT

50 What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever.

51 But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! 52 It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. 53 For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.

54 Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die,[j] this Scripture will be fulfilled:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.[Isaiah 25:8]
55 O death, where is your victory?
    O death, where is your sting?[Hosea 13:14]

56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”

Reflection

Sisters and brothers, there are some powerful words in these verses. Yet, some of the key verses for me this morning are these four reminders:

  • We will not all die, but we will all be transformed. (v. 51)
  • Oh death, where is your victory? Oh death, where is your sting? (v. 55)
  • But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. (v. 57)
  • Be strong and unmovable. (v. 58)

Sisters and brothers, there was a resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ lives and because He lives we can be fully confident in these verses. Don’t fear death because those who believe in and accept Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior will be with Him on the day when He returns. Sisters and brothers, Christ is coming back! Christ has defeated death. Let us stand firm in our faith, be strong and unmovable; trusting God’s word.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for your grace and mercy on our lives. Lord, we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. Lord, thank you for loving us unconditionally. Lord, forgive us for the times when we sinned against you. Continue to work in us and transform us into who you have called us to be. Lord, equip us with boldness so that we may stand in faith unmovable, unshakable and strong in you. Lord, be our peace. Be with those who are traveling over the next few weeks. Be with those preparing to spend time with family and friends. Lord, calm the anxiety of the people who join together. Comfort those who are alone or grieving. Heal the broken hearted. Open employment opportunities for those who are seeking new employment. Lord, stabilize our country and remove unnecessary chaos. Calm the minds of your children and give them/us mental clarity, discernment, and wisdom as we seek your face and direction for our lives. Lord, renew our passion for purpose and kingdom mission. Help us to connect with other believers who can sharpen us. Lord, for those lacking – provide. For those who are ill or battling chronic illness – heal them and remove their pain. For those in financial strain – allow funds to flow and be used wisely.

In Jesus name, amen.

Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
