Faith In The Comfort of His Promises

Good Morning! Today, we will continue our read in Hebrews chapter 11, verses 13-16, which focuses on a promise fulfilled. Join me as we review these verses.

Bible Verses – Hebrews 11:13-16 NLT

“13 All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. 14 Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. 15 If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. 16 But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”

Reflection

Brothers and sisters don’t get too comfortable here on earth, for in a little while we will be in our forever home. Our perfect home has been prepared and it is waiting. Our move-in date is already set. All the riches of the kingdom are in place.

In the meantime, stay focused on the promises of God because there is still work to do – with prayer being one of the most significant in these days. However, the number one reason – there are others who need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lives are depending on you to share your faith and the truth about a Savior named Jesus who came to save us all. The One who went to prepare a place for us… mansions and streets of gold. Where Holy, Holy, Holy is sung on repeat. Will you share it with them? Will you tell them about the promises and salvation?

Prayer

Lord God,  thank you for preparing a place for us. Thank you for the reminder that this earthly place is only a temporary home. As foreigners in this land, help us to impact the culture with your love, grace and mercy. Help us as we go throughout the day to be examples of Christ. As we hope and long for our forever home, keep us steadfast on the journey and focused on you. Create in us a boldness to share the gospel and to live a life that is pleasing to you.

When we need comforting help us to turn to you and your word.

  • God’s promise to comfort the weary can be found in Isaiah 40.
  • God’s offer of His right hand of help can be found in Isaiah 41.
  • God’s comfort during seasons of crisis can be found in Isaiah 43.
  • God’s reminder not to fear or become paralyzed by anxiety can be found in Isaiah 44:1-4, and also throughout scripture.

Lord, thank you for comforting us during the difficult seasons of our lives. Thank you for removing the spirit of anxiety from our hearts and minds as we surrender our entire lives to you, because we can trust you. Lord, prepare our hearts, minds, and bodies for the day. Dress us in your full armor so that we can stand against the enemies schemes. In Jesus name, Amen.
