Good morning! Happy first day of August 2024.

Prayer – Lord, make us more like you.

Father God, your character is without flaw. Your love, grace, and mercy expands for ages. Lord, you are victorious in every situation. You never fail and you never leave us abandoned. You give power to the weak. You restore the brokenhearted and restore our souls. You give beauty for ashes. You know what we need before we ask and you don’t withhold anything that is good for us. You firmly plant us by streams of living water. You soften our hearts and provide clarity to our minds. You dress us with the armor of God – and prepare us for the victory ahead that we have in you. Lord, we thank you for all the provisions and ways you have shown us that you love us without fail and without conditions.

Gracious Father, we want to be more like Jesus in our compassion toward others, in our discernment in relationships, how we communicate with each other, and in ways we draw near to you. Lord, touch our hearts, minds, and mouth to honor you today. Lord, help us to recognize attacks against us and help us to stand firm in the strength you give to respond and act according to your will. Lord, help us to remain humble but not meek. Help us to consider each idea and partner under your leadership before we act or make a move. Lord, we surrender this day and month to you. We desire to seek and serve you each day, and make room for you to transform us as you see fit. Lord, begin your work in us, then overflow that work into our homes – our marriages (renew them), children (protect them), parents (comfort, heal and give them peace), and extended families (may they all accept you as the Lord and Savior of their lives). Lord, then our relationship with the church – how we attend, create and maintain relationships, worship, serve, and learn. Then on our jobs – how we honor you with our time, projects, conversations, truth and relationships with our bosses and colleagues- let us be better examples of you in the workplace so that others will see you in us.

Lord, help us to be your hands and feet in this world. Lord, we lift up the families who lost their dad last Thursday and Sunday. Lord, strengthen them and bring them comfort as they grieve their loved one. Lord, the hope you promise cannot compare to anything else. Lord, we pray for the woman hospitalized with pneumonia and we ask for healing in her lungs and body. We pray for those impacted by fires and those who have lost their homes – Lord, give them safe refuge and the help they need to rebuild and replace.

Lord, we thank you and praise you in advance for answering this prayer. In Jesus name, amen.
