Led Astray

Good morning! “But when Peter came to Antioch, I had to oppose him to his face, for what he did was very wrong. When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision. As a result, other Jewish believers followed Peter’s hypocrisy, and even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.” Galatians 2:11-13 NLT.

There was a time when following the crowd was the most important thing to me. I could fit in perfectly, if I dressed a certain way, would act like them, and support them or “have their back”. Fortunately, I woke-up, I could no longer find the “me” I once was. I was going along with the crowd instead of following the plan God had for me. Sometimes, you have to take a stand for what is right in God’s eyes – and not do the easy thing. We need to check what we profess to believe against what we are actually saying and/or doing. We can’t afford to live a double life, too many people are watching our faith in action. Don’t lead them astray.

What crowd are you following? ______

Are you more concerned about what others think about you than serving God? ______

It’s not too late to ask to Lord to correct your path.

Dear Lord, thank you for waking us up to experience another day you created. You have the sun aligned, the clouds in sync, the birds in melody, the wind whispering, the waves in the sea rolling back and us in the palm of your hand. Lord, thank you. Lord God, as we go through this day, we ask that you shield us from our enemies and those who desire to harm, cover our families and allow your presence to be felt all around us. Lord, we want to be obedient to your word. Give us a humble heart to follow you, to seek after the loss and those looking for a new way in you. Help us to be examples of your love. Lord, heal the sick, mend the broken-hearted, and comfort those in pain. Restore us, Lord. Renew our spirit and love for you. In Jesus name, amen.

Prepare Us

Good morning! “In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co-workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews. Their only suggestion was that we keep on helping the poor, which I have always been eager to do.” Galatians 2:9-10NLT

Each person has a God-given call on their life. God has equipped and will prepare us for all the things he has in store. While your call may be similar to someone else, the Lord uniquely designed you to fulfill His purpose the way he equipped you and in the places he will show you. Continue to share the word of God and care for the people he loves.

Dear Lord, thank you for being our strength. Lord, thank you for providing for us. Lord, continue to speak to us and reveal your truth. Continue to build our character and guide our thoughts.  Lord, as you prepare our hearts and minds for the journey ahead, help us to see you at work in our lives. Lord, sometimes we struggle to do what you desire of us, but Lord continue to pursue us. Strengthen us, Lord, to follow after you. Help us to remember and help those in need. Help us to see you move in our daily activities.  As we go to work,  school, etc., be with us. Be the center in our marriages, in our singleness, in our parenting, in our friendships and every area of our lives. In Jesus name, amen.

Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!

God Has No Favorites

Happy Friday! “And the leaders of the church had nothing to add to what I was preaching. (By the way, their reputation as great leaders made no difference to me, for God has no favorites.) Instead, they saw that God had given me the responsibility of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, just as he had given Peter the responsibility of preaching to the Jews. For the same God who worked through Peter as the apostle to the Jews also worked through me as the apostle to the Gentiles.” Galatians 2:6-8NLT

As we read earlier this week, Paul experienced opposition, however he stayed steadfast to the mission God gave him. The same God who used the apostles is the same God who has a plan and purpose for you.

Will you allow God to use you? _______

Lord, thank you for another week. Thank you for the strength to continue to share your word with others.  Lord, we thank you for providing for us. Thank you for loving us the same. Lord, we ask that you be with us and work in us as you did the apostles. Give us wisdom and boldness to speak your truth and share the word of God. Lord be with us today and guide us throughout this weekend. Be with the families who have experienced loss and devastation. Lord, please comfort them and give them peace at this painful time.  Lord, be with countries as they face/prepare for another hurricane. Lord, comfort those battling cancer. Lord, make a way out for those struggling with addiction(s) – heal them. Lord rescue those who are victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. Lord, protect the young and innocent children. Lord, please bring your peace, we need you to calm the storms in our hearts and minds. In Jesus name, Amen!

The Sneaky Spy

Good morning! “Even that question came up only because of some so-called believers there—false ones, really—who were secretly brought in. They sneaked in to spy on us and take away the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to enslave us and force us to follow their Jewish regulations. But we refused to give in to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the gospel message for you.” Galatians 2:4-5 NLT

Here Paul is remaining faithful to the call. He is addressing the fact that the false teachers wanted to impose that one had to be circumcised to be saved. However, Paul is sharing the freedom we have in Christ – salvation is by faith alone. Because of Christ, circumcision is not what sets us apart, it is the acceptance of Christ as our Savior and Lord that does – thank you Jesus.

As Christians we often hear the word of God from others and decide to accept what is said. It’s important to read the word of God to ensure we are not lead astray by legalism and man-made rules.

Father God, we thank you for the gospel message. We thank you for giving us a discerning heart to follow your truth. Lord, please work in us. Open up our eyes to see your truth. Help us to understand the depths of your death on the cross and resurrection from the grave that gives us freedom in Christ Jesus. Help us to love like Jesus – with compassion, care and loving correction. Give us wisdom not to take the bait of deception and anger, but remain humble and focused on your purpose and plan. Be our shield from the enemy and strengthen our faith. In Jesus name, amen.

Keep seeking God’s truth! Keep trusting God’s word! Keep praying!
