Happy Wednesday! Over the past few weeks I’ve read a lot of instructions. I’ve noticed that sometimes the instructions were not as clear as others. Sometimes it required additional input from YouTube, the Home Depot designer, or I just figured it out the best that I could. However, my projects always turned out better when the instructions were clear or the Home Depot expert assisted. Do you ever struggle with unclear instructions?
This morning we are continuing our reading in Acts chapter eight. Yesterday, we read on Philip being directed by an Angel of Lord to go south, and along the way he encountered a Eunuch. In these verses we will read how God used Philip. Just remember God wants to use you too. Enjoy today’s devotion and your day.
Bible Verse – Acts 8:30-33 NLT
“30 Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 The man replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him.
32 The passage of Scripture he had been reading was this:
“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter.
And as a lamb is silent before the shearers,
he did not open his mouth.
33 He was humiliated and received no justice.
Who can speak of his descendants?
For his life was taken from the earth.”[Isaiah 53:7-8]”
Reflection
Philip’s encounter with the Eunuch was a divine appointment. It opened the opportunity for the Eunuch to understand what Isaiah 53:7-8 meant and it was clearly the perfect time to share that Jesus Christ was the one who is being described in the verses. The entire chapter of Isaiah 53 reveals the greatness of God’s plan to save us through Jesus.
It is through Christ Jesus that many are counted righteous, because Jesus bore all of our sins at the cross. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament sacrificial system. He is the coming Prophet, the promised Son of God, the Great High Priest and the Son of Man.
Sisters and brothers, it is because of Christ Jesus that we can truly live. He took our place on the cross, he was beaten and bruised for our sins, and loved us enough to die for us. There is no greater love.
Things to ponder:
- How has the Good News of Jesus Christ changed your life?
- How have you used the spiritual gifts God has given you to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to others?
It’s never too late to share the Good News of the gospel message with others. If you understand the assignment (Matthew 28:18-20), help others to understand.
Prayer
Father God, in the name of Jesus we come to you in prayer and thanks. Father God, we thank you for your mighty work and your greatness amongst us. Father thank you for fulfilling your great plan to save us. Lord, no matter the number of sacrifices that we would have laid at your feet it would have never been enough to save us all – Lord, forgive us. Thank you for sending Your son Jesus Christ to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Thank you for coming into our hearts, for saving/redeeming us, and reconciling us back to God. Lord, continue to work within us. Lord, continue to change our hearts. Lord, lead and guide us on this journey with you and prompt us to share your message with the world. Lord help those who are in need – spiritually, emotionally, financially, physically, and mentally. Lord, you know the struggles of your people, help us to see you in the midst of whatever we may be experiencing. Lord, we love and we thank you for all you have done and will continue to do. Lord, help us to keep our hope and our faith anchored in You alone. In Jesus name, amen.
