They Lead Him Away

Happy Monday! I hope that you had a nice weekend. This morning we will begin are reading in Matthew chapter 27, where we find Jesus in the custody of the leading priest elders of the people.

Bible Verse – Matthew 27:1-2 NLT

1 Very early in the morning the leading priests and the elders of the people met again to lay plans for putting Jesus to death. Then they bound him, led him away, and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor.”

Reflection

While the priest and elders had a trial by night and condemned Jesus to death, they had no power to put Jesus to death. The ruling had to be made official in a trial by day and the Roman governor had to make the final decision.

Join me this week as we continue to unfold the trial and decision that would change our lives forever.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for loving us until death and beyond. Lord, forgive us for the delay in recognizing you as our Lord and Savior. Lord, forgive us for giving into the pressures of this world instead of relying on you. Lord we appreciate everything you have done for us and continue to do. Lord, continue to watch over us and direct us in your truth. Increase our awareness of who you are and of your presence in our lives. Lord, go before us today making our paths straight and your favor apparent. In Jesus name, amen.
