Good morning! Have you ever been hungry? I mean so hungry you felt you could eat anything. Maybe you left something some leftovers in the refrigerator and was waiting all day to get home to eat it. When you finally got home, you rushed to the kitchen opened the refrigerator door only to find out, the precious meal you were ready to eat was thrown away while someone was cleaning out the refrigerator? Talk about disappointing moments. Well, today we will continue to read Matthew 21. Enjoy!
BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 21:18-22 NLT
“18 In the morning, as Jesus was returning to Jerusalem, he was hungry, 19 and he noticed a fig tree beside the road. He went over to see if there were any figs, but there were only leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” And immediately the fig tree withered up.
20 The disciples were amazed when they saw this and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”
21 Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. 22 You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.””
REFLECTION
There are two things that I captured in these verses:
- bearing fruit in season
- Sisters and brothers, being a Christian goes beyond simply looking good, we are called to bear good fruit…people are hungry for God’s word. Be faithful believers who bear fruit in and out of season.
- having faith
- Continue to pray and act in faith like Jesus. Trust God’s plan.
PRAYER
Lord, by faith we believe your word is true and trust that even when doubt comes in, your word will be here. Lord, when we are hungry for your word, sustain us and help to bear good fruit. Lord, don’t let us wither and die, refresh us. Lord, increase our faith and give us the strength to move the mountains that are hindering our growth and relationship with you. Lord, teach us to be faithful servants who bear fruit. May are hearts love as you love. Lord, change us and fill us with more of you. In Jesus name, amen!
