Don’t Stop Them

Happy Friday! The Lord is on our side. So no matter what you are facing today, trust the Lord and know his armies have your back today. Rest in Him. Enjoy today’s reading and this ressurection  Sunday. Remember Jesus came for us, to save us…

Bible Verse – Matthew 19:13-15 NLT
“13 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.

14 But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” 15 And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.”

When I read this, I found it at least twofold, first for the church. As the church and members within, we must not limit ourselves by limiting our outreach to youth. This is critical for our society, the future of the church and the salvation of our youth who will become adults.

My second review of the verses lead me to share the following.

One day, about 24 years ago I was having a conversation with my oldest daughter. She told me that she was praying for a little sister. I quickly informed her, “you can’t pray for that”. Then she quickly responded (slightly paraphrased), you can’t tell me what to pray for, I can pray for whatever I want. You can only imagine my surprise, first – she was talking back, second – she was right. Who was I to tell her what she could or couldn’t pray for. Thinking in my mind, I didn’t teach her that, she must have learned that in Sunday school, from my mom or the Christian preschool she went too.

This was a lesson to me on prayer and God’s way of using little children to remind us that there are no limitations on the prayers we ask. He hears everyone, sometimes the answer is yes, no, or not right now.

Parents, guardians, bring up children in the knowledge of the Lord, surround them with good Christian influences, so that they will know Him early on and begin to have a personal relationship with him. As you know, there will be an abundance of opportunities for the enemy to try to turn them away, but keep them planted and live as an example of a Christ follower. Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) reads, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Trust God, will not let them go…at least not too far, before they return them back to him. Keep praying for your children (nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren), the children around your children, your friends children, and your neighbors children.

Father God, thank you for allowing us to see you at work in the lives of children. Lord, thank you for accepting us as your own children. Lord, you are an incredible Father. You love us, accept us, challenge us to grow, you discipline us, you correct us when we are going down the wrong path, you check our attitudes and behaviors, you teach us great and wonderful things, but most of all you extended mercy and forgiveness to us so that while we were sinners you sent your One and only Son to save us so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to you. Father God, continue to work in us. Lord, renew our faith and trust in you.  Lord, help us to trust you enough to pray unrestricted prayers and trust you with limitless confidence that you hear and answer us. Lord, create in us a heart without fear of the things to come, because we trust you. Lord, take our hands and lead us.

Lord, we pray for the children in this world. Lord, in my eyes I sometimes feel some kids are born without a chance, but you have taught me to know better. Lord, we ask today that you cover your innocent children. Lord, protect them from predators, abusers and traffickers. Lord, be with our foster youth who are shuffled from place to place. Lord, give them stability and peace. Comfort them, give them peace of mind and protect them. Lord, be with the children who are hungry and cold. Lord, send more workers into the field to provide food and clothing to those in need. Lord, we pray for the fatherless and motherless, we ask that you heal those empty spaces in those children’s hearts. Lord, where there is opportunity for reconciliation, make it sincere and a healthy reunion. Lord, deliver our youth from gangs, human trafficking, drug sells, marijuana use and violence. Lord, open doors for them to have opportunities to turn their lives around. Lord, have your way in our lives and use us to make a difference in the lives of our families, children and youth around us. In Jesus name, amen.
