Happy Tuesday! When we plant seeds in our yard or a field we never know if it will take root. It requires us to nurture the plant in good soil, watering and at times providing a shield of protection from the sun or elements that may destroy the plant. However, if well cared for the plant will reach its maximum potential, growing to produce an abundance – fulfilling the purpose for which you purchased the seed. Enjoy as we read the Parable of the Mustard Seed.
Bible Verse – Matthew 14:31-32 NLT
“31 Here is another illustration Jesus used: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.””
According to the internet there are 40 different species of mustard plants. While the seeds are generally 1-2 millimeters, they can grow as high as 12-15 feet.
Brothers and sisters as we plant seeds of faith and have opportunities to share the word of God with others, that is where we can watch the Kingdom of God expand. We don’t need to have a large following, we simply need to be faithful with the little and God will take care of it best. One conversation at a time, one act of faith at a time, one prayer at at time…
Are you ready to plant seeds as small as a mustard seed and watch it grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ?
Maybe you feel like you are a seed that needs watering and growth in the Word. Let me encourage you to get involved in a Bible teaching church and plugged into a weekly Bible study (online or at church) to help you grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Let’s live to our full potential.
Father God, thank you for wisdom and discernment. Thank you for the ability to serve you. Lord, sometimes we are too fearful to share your word with others, so please forgive us. Lord, from this day forward we desire to plant seeds of faith and knowledge of who you are. We desire to share the truth of the loving sacrifice of your Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. We want the world to know that Jesus rose from the dead, conquering both sin and death, and is alive today. That He is the truth and the light and that no one goes to the Father except through Him (Jesus). Lord, we pray for those individuals who hear the message that they may believe and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Lord, may your will be done. Lord, equip us and suit us up in the armor of salvation. Cover us from head to toe, so that when the evil one comes we will be able to stand against the darts and attacks. Open up our eyes to see all that you have for us. Keep us focused on you. In Jesus name, amen.
