They Knew Him

Happy Tuesday! It’s always nice to hang out with people of status. You get ushered into places and circles you never expected to be. Sometimes, just being around them invites opportunities of success, but remember it’s only temporary. Join me as we continue with the final verses in Matthew chapter 12. Enjoy.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 12:46-50 NLT
46 As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. 47 Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, and they want to speak to you.” 48 Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 50 Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!””

Reflection
Jesus reminds us that our relationships with family, other people or religion does not gain us favor before God. The act of obedience to God and following His will makes one a disciple. We cannot get into heaven riding the coattails of family members or friends. We must have our own personal relationship with God. We must believe, repent and accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord and begin to live for Him.

Today, pray about the things the Lord has put on your heart. Take steps of obedience and follow God’s will. Allow Him to guide you in big and small ways.

Prayer
Father God, thank you for loving us. There is no greater love than the love you have shown us. Lord, thank you for sending your only Son Jesus Christ to reconcile us to you. Lord, forgive us when we fall short and put our hope and trust in ourselves or people we know instead of in you. Lord, we desire to be faithful followers and obedient servants that advance your kingdom. Lord, teach us to walk in a way that pleases you. Lord, we lift up our family and families around the world and ask for healing and restoration. Lord, where there are broken relationships bring spiritual healing. Lord, where the enemy is active and attacking cease his fire and force him to flee. Lord, equip us with discernment to recognize who and what we allow into our lives.  Keep us focused on you and what you have called us to do. Lord, do not let us be distracted from your call, but surround us with godly people who will encourage our faith, keep us on task and remind us of your best for us. Lord, we want to feel your presence today, fill us up with more of you. Guide our steps, direct our speech and lead us throughout the day.  Lord, protect the children and the elderly. Lord, we pray for our nation and ask that you continue to unveil our eyes so that we can discern truth from lies, and walk in truth. In Jesus name, amen!
