Good morning! Have you ever been in a situation where you tried to tell someone something, but they were preoccupied or would not listen? It is definitely frustrating, even to the point when we throw up our hands and say, I tried to tell them…they will just learn the hard way. As we continue to read Matthew chapter 12, you will see Jesus is at that point with the religious leaders and Pharisees. Enjoy today’s reading and your weekend.

Bible Verse – Matthew 12:41-42 NLT
“41 “The people of Nineveh will stand up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, for they repented of their sins at the preaching of Jonah. Now someone greater than Jonah is here—but you refuse to repent.42 The queen of Sheba[e] will also stand up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, for she came from a distant land to hear the wisdom of Solomon. Now someone greater than Solomon is here—but you refuse to listen.”

Reflection
Jonah was so angry with the people of Nineveh and God’s will to forgive them if they repented, that he decided to go another way. Instead he ended up in the belly of a fish and then back on land to deliver the message of repentance to Nineveh and the repented. The same is true for the Queen of Sheba (Queen of the South) in 1 Kings 10:1-13, when she listened to the wisdom Solomon. The difference, Nineveh and the Queen listened, but the religious leaders and Pharisees refused to listen.

Questions to ponder:
• What do you hear the Lord saying to you? ______

• Are you refusing to do what he is calling you to do? ________

• Are you ready to follow Him? _____

Brothers and sisters, let us listen to the Lord and follow His direction and plan for our lives. 

PRAYER
Father God, thank you for your mercy and grace toward us. Lord, help us to hear and listen. Lord, we repent of our sins and ask for your forgiveness. Lord, equip us to be everything that you desire for us to be. Lord, we surrender our lives and will to you.  Lord, be with us and show us your ways.  Lord, help us to hear and listen.  Lord, lead us and teach us to keep you first. Lord heal all the ones who are and others who are grieving today. Lord, remove anxiety and fear. In Jesus name, amen.
