Endure Until the End

Happy Wednesday! The Lord prepares us for the things ahead. Today’s devotion continues with the Lord’s instructions and wise counsel before he sends out the twelve disciples. Enjoy today’s devotion.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 10:21-23 NLT
21 “A brother will betray his brother to death, a father will betray his own child, and children will rebel against their parents and cause them to be killed. 22 And all nations will hate you because you are my followers. But everyone who endures to the end will be saved. 23 When you are persecuted in one town, flee to the next. I tell you the truth, the Son of Man will return before you have reached all the towns of Israel.”

REFLECTION
Being a follower of Christ in those days was difficult. There were struggles, persecution, trials and death threats. Well, I guess not much has changed.

Here arw some key words that stood out to me in the verses we read today:

  • All nations will hate you because you are my followers.
  • But everyone who endures to the end will be saved.
  • The Son of man (Jesus) will return.

These key points are significant because Jesus for warns us that we will not be loved or received by everybody. There will be a time when we are unpopular, ridiculed, and rejected for our beliefs, but keep believing and pursing the mission anyway. The very next bullet explains why we should continue to endure. Our endurance in the faith helps us to hold onto the hope we have in Jesus Christ – that if we believe in Him we will be saved. The final bullet is the promise Christ left – the Son of Man (Jesus Christ) will return, sisters and brothers not one single promise will go unanswered or unfulfilled.

Therefore, be encouraged sisters and brothers. Use this season to hear from the Lord, to learn from his word and prepare others for the Lord’s return.

As we seek to follow him. We may not want to hear about or go through certain things, but take heart the Lord will be with us through them all. Trust his plan. Walk in your purpose. Share the love of Jesus.

PRAYER
Father God, thank you for everything. Thank you for saving us. Lord, help us to endure until the end. Help us to stand firm in our beliefs and teach us how to minister to the least, last and the lost. Lord, fill our hearts with your love and compassion. Soften our hearts and minds to hear from you and receive all that you have to give us. Lord, change and use us. Lord, we lift up marriages today and ask that you strengthen them and heal them. Lord, we pray for parent and child(ren) relationships today and ask that you heal them and make them whole. Lord, we pray for working relationships and ask wherever the enemy is trying to rage war against your faithful children that you will protect them from harm and give them favor on the job. Lord, we pray for those who are wrongfully imprisoned and ask that the truth be brought to light. Lord, we pray for those trapped in bondage and ask that you set them free. Lord, we pray for those who have been abused and ask that you help them to work through their pain. Lord, help them to know they are not alone and heal them. Lord, we pray for healing for the sick, stability of mind for those suffering with mental illness and peace for the broken-hearted. Lord, you know our every need, whether it is listed or not. Lord, sustain us, hear and answer our prayers. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus, amen.
