The Harvest is Great

Happy Wednesday! Today, we will conclude our reading in Matthew chapter 9. I don’t know about you, but I’ve read this chapter on many occasions, and this time around I realized that I am still amazed by the great power and authority of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Are you still amazed? Well, lets finish this chapter. Enjoy your reading.

BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 9:35-38 NLT
35 Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.””

REFLECTION
Jesus is alive today, right now, at this time. His words are living and breathing life into us. He is still healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, curing diseases and setting captives free.

He still has compassion on us. He has compassion you. When we were lost, he found us. When we wonder off, he leaves the 99 to find us and he bring us back to Him – restored, refreshed and renewed.

There are many more people who need to hear the gospel message, there are many more who need to see the compassion of Jesus in their lifetime. Too many people are confused and are struggling about in this life without hope and without Jesus in their lives.

Here are a few challenge questions to ponder over this week:

• Will you live your life for Christ?

• Will you point others to Christ?

• Will you share the gospel message with others?

• Will share your testimony and tell others what Jesus has done for you?

I don’t know what unique talent or gift the Lord has given to you, but will you use it to advance the kingdom of God?

PRAYER
Father God, in the name of Jesus we come to you in prayer for the least, last, lost and the found. Lord, forgive us for the times when we have set your work to the side. Lord, forgive us when we refuse to do the things you have called or purposed us to do. Lord, let our compassion for others be louder than are passion for things that will not last. Lord, change us and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Lord, open our eyes to see beyond politics, ads, and division – help us to focus our eyes on you and your people who are hurting, lost, confused and need you more than our words can ever express. Lord, convict our judgmental hearts and minds so that we can get to work on the things that matter to you. Lord, send more workers into the field. Equip and lead us, Lord. In Jesus name, amen.
