Happy Thursday! Each morning when I read through the scriptures, I come to find that the Lord is equipping me with enough strength for that day. I wake up hungry for the word and ready to be feed. No matter what I’m going through or what’s going on around me, I find my stability in the morning when I meet with the Lord. How about you? Enjoy today’s verses.
BIBLE VERSE – Matthew 6:31-34 NLT
“31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
Throughout Matthew 6:25-34, we were reminded that the pursuit of material things may occupy our lives more than the things of God. As we learned, some Pharisees were more occupied with material possessions or status, and lacked understanding in faith. They were so concerned with those things that they failed to recognize the One who was in control of all things. Did they ever live by faith?
As difficult as life may seem, as hard as it may be to live worry free and to live by faith, Jesus is calling us out to strengthen our faith, and to trust Him. He reminds us in Matthew 6:
• v.25 – That is why I tell you not to worry…
• v.31 – So don’t worry…
• v.34 – So don’t worry…
Sisters and brothers, I don’t know about you but I am guilty of worry. I think about my family and what may be best for them, but praise God for a moment of pause.
Faith in Action
In that moment of pause, my worry turns to prayer and praise. My heart begins to align with Who God Is, my thoughts begin to Settle In On the One In Control, the Peace that Only God Gives begins to take over and godly discernment begins to kick-in. The small still voice reminds me, daughter, I have you and this – trust me.
See I use to run around for answers. I tried to:
- make every chess piece position me for victory.
- align my life from start to finish.
- carry everyone’s burdens and do things to please them.
Then I gave it all to God and said, good luck with this…and you know what, He has and continues to work out every detail – not always as I would prefer, but as He wills and I am okay with that too.
It’s time to live by faith. What do you need to stop worrying about and start praying about? ______
Whatever it is, whenever it comes into your mind, pause and start praying. Keep praying. The Lord hears you and He loves you. He knows every need you have today. Keep your eyes focused on the One who can change anything, especially us. Trust and pray.
Father God, thank you for your love for us. Thank you for always caring for us. Lord, thank you for giving us today. Lord, thank you for allowing us to see your mighty work in the midst of chaos and troubling times. Lord, we pray for all those who are worrying and ask that you steady their heart so that they can focus on you. Lord, you know our physical, mental, emotional, financial, and spiritual needs. Lord, don’t let the spirit of fear over take our thoughts and motives. Lord, in the Name of Jesus we tell that spirit of worry and fear, that is not of you, to leave. Lord, pour your Holy Spirit into our lives and transform us. Renew our minds daily and equip us with your sound word. Lord, fill us with your power and your love, and give us a sound mind. Let our light of faith and hope in You shine in us today. In Jesus name, amen.
