You Are Far More Valuable

Happy Tuesday! Do you ever find yourself pondering on things that may never occur? Isn’t it amazing how we can spend so much time worrying and creating our own fears in our head that we become paralyzed to function or move forward. Fear and worry will rob us of friendships, jobs, a peace of mind and if not dealt with, our ability to trust God in all areas of our lives. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus taught on numerous reasons why we should not worry. We will spend a few days covering these verses.

Today’s verses remind us to stop the vicious cycle of worry and focus our eyes back on the Lord. His plan for our lives is greater than our worries.

BIBLE VERSES – Matthew 6:25-27 NLT
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?  27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”

REFLECTION

The Pharisees were so focused on wealth and their own attention, because they didn’t fully comprehend faith or what it means to live by faith. So, Jesus began to teach us all.

I love all the questions Jesus asked in the verses above:

  • Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?
  • And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
  • Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

Question to ponder:

If God has built into all of creation the means that all things are cared for, doesn’t that include you?

The Lord has you and knows your need(s). Turn it over to Him in prayer – ask for discernment, wisdom, covering, and direction. Then be obedient to His leading.

PRAYER

Lord, help us to live by faith in you. Lord, lead the way today and always. Give us discernment in all the choices we need to make. Father God, thank you for this morning. Thank you for all the times you have come through for us. Lord, we praise you for your grace, mercy and provision. Lord, you know everything about us, you know our responses to the questions above, yet you love us. Lord, you never cease to amaze us with your mighty works. Lord, we ask that you forgive us for the times we have turned away from you. Lord, help us when we doubt your goodness. Lord, help us when we don’t understand your ways. Lord, give us today our daily bread. Lord, give us peace as we seek you and trust your plan. Lord, when everything is stripped away, we still have you. Help us to stand firm on solid ground, knowing that you do not quiver or shake. Lord, sustain us and help us to leave all our worries and cares at your feet. Lord, take our worries and keep them – you can handle them all by yourself. Help us to stay focused on you, Lord. Lord, thank you for seeing value in us. Continue to use and change us Lord. You are Almighty and good. Heal the brokenhearted, touch the sick, stable the unstable, strengthen the weak, provide finances and food to those in need, and Lord, release the captives from addictive devices that help us to cope with the day – teach us to lean on you. Lord, give us favor. In Jesus name, amen.
