Good morning!Have you ever had one of those moments when you just need to hear a good word? You know those moments when anxiety is at its peak and you know something within you is just not balancing well. You know split second in your thoughts when you have the option to call out to the Lord or opt to look for your own remedy. Well today, we will finish 1 Peter as he reminds us to trust in God.
Bible verse – 1 Peter 1:21-25 NLT
“21 Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.
22 You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters.Love each other deeply with all your heart.
23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. 24 As the Scriptures say,
“People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. 25 But the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.” – 1 Peter 1:21-25 NLT
Reflection
Whenever I read these verses, it is like I am sitting in the church pews/chairs and can hear Peter powerfully deliver this message. Additional words from me aren’t necessary, but I do want to highlight some of the things that set my soul on fire when I read it a couple of times this morning.Identity Crisis 101 – solved:
• Through Christ we learned to trust God.
• Our faith and hope are in God because he raised Christ from the dead.
• Our sins were cleansed because we obeyed the truth.
• Now love, with a sincere and deep love each other.
• We have been born again, into a new life that will last forever.
• The word of the Lord will last forever.
• And that word is the Good News. – amen!
Prayer
Father God, we thank you for your amazing love and grace toward us. Lord, even in the midst of trials, chaos, perfect days, and when things are out of our control, your word remains true, the same as yesterday and today. Lord, nothing and no one can compare to you. You are Alpha and Omega, you are Truth and Mercy, you know our beginning and our end. Lord, thank you for forgiveness of sins and for rescuing us from a life doomed to hell. Lord, thank you for being so loving and gracious. Lord, speak to our hearts today and transform us into who you have designed and called us to be. Lord, help us to live our new life in you without fear, placing our complete confidence in you. Change us Lord and make us whole. Let us live in our new identity in Christ – forgiven and made whole. Lord, we lift up each reader who reads your word today and ask that you give them peace that surpasses all understanding. Lord, calm the storms in their lives (e.g., marriages, singleness, financial, mental, physical and spiritual). Lord, be with us and be our shield so that we may continue to stand under the pressure, all the while trusting you for refining and delivering us. In Jesus name, amen.
