Sincere Heart

Good morning! Have you ever tried to persuade others to believe something that would either benefit you, them or someone else? Well, today we will read 2 Corinthians chapter five, where Paul had to explain the sincerity of his heart. Join me as we read verses 11-15

11 Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others. God knows we are sincere, and I hope you know this, too. 12 Are we commending ourselves to you again? No, we are giving you a reason to be proud of us,[b] so you can answer those who brag about having a spectacular ministry rather than having a sincere heart. 13 If it seems we are crazy, it is to bring glory to God. And if we are in our right minds, it is for your benefit. 14 Either way, Christ’s love controls us.[c] Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.[d] 15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.” – 2 Corinthians 5:11-15 NLT

One of the many things I love about the Apostle Paul is that he always had a heavenly perspective. Through near death, slander, division, and other struggles Paul remained focus on the mission, he said it best in 1 Corinthians 1:17 (NLT), “For Christ didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the Good News—and not with clever speech, for fear that the cross of Christ would lose its power.”

Sisters and brothers, there will always be a doubter of our sincerity of work and passion for Christ and our faithfulness to God. But don’t worry, God knows our heart. He goes before us and He fights our battles. Don’t let the boundaries of this mundane world hinder you from having a heavenly perspective. Trust God’s word, what He has called you to and live your life for Him.

Yesterday, as I was pondering over things in life, one of my dear friends shared with me, Mary:

  • We don’t need to know all the details on how or what God is doing we simply need to walk in obedience.
  • Unless God reveals what He is doing or how He will do it, those details are none of your business. Good knows the details, He has the strategic plan, He will give you discernment and He will work out the details. Keep believing His word and walk in faith.

Sisters and brothers, bring glory to God.

Sisters and brothers, we all need someone in our lives who is sincere in heart, someone who is passionate for Christ and who will build us for God’s glory. My prayer for you today is that you will seek Christ with a sincere heart and develop a greater relationship with Him. I also pray that God will soften your heart and give you an obedient spirit to continue to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and your testimony with others.

Father God, thank you for your incredible love toward us. Lord, thank you for always being trustworthy and capable of doing more than we could ever see or imagine. Lord, thank you for knowing our hearts toward you. Lord, forgive us for the times when we sinned against you or acted out in vain. Lord, work in us to boldly persuade others to know you more. Lord, we want to be sincere in heart about our love for you. Lord, keep us humble and in alignment with your word. May the things that we do be for your glory and not our own. Stretch us beyond where we are in our relationship with you and into a greater existence that you have promised and planned. In Jesus name, amen.
