Happy Wednesday! Today is a new day and it is the first day that we will begin our reading in 2 Corinthians. 2 Corinthians is the second letter from Paul to the Corinthian church and it is the 47th book in the Bible. This letter was written while Paul was in Macedonia preparing for his third trip to Corinth. Join me as we begin 2 Corinthians.
“This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy.
I am writing to God’s church in Corinth and to all of his holy people throughout Greece.[a]
2 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.” 2 Corinthians 1:1-2 NLT
As with 1 Corinthians, Paul begins his letter with an introduction and confirmation of who he is – an Apostle of Jesus Christ chosen by the will of God. The introduction is significant because there were several “apostles” in the region but they were false and strongly opposed Paul’s presence in the region.
I love Paul’s statement, “I am writing to God’s church…”
It was clear Paul was on a mission to strengthen and encourage the Corinthian church and God’s holy people throughout Greece. No matter the cost, Paul was determined to be with them soon.
Sisters and brothers, are there places or people God has asked you to go to or reach out to, to strengthen their faith or encourage them in the word? ______
If so, are you doing it? ________
If not, today is a perfect opportunity to ask God where would he like for you to begin.
Allow God to use you!
Father God, thank you for another opportunity to serve you. Lord, we thank you for the breath in our lungs and the ability to worship and praise you in silence or audibly. Lord, you are good even when things don’t seem good. Lord, in our darkest times you still hold on to us and we are forever grateful for your faithfulness. Lord, thank you for both the good and bad that causes us to draw closer to you, to press further in our faith and strengthen us beyond what we could ever imagine. Lord, you know our hearts and our minds – there isn’t one thing that we can hide from you. Lord, help us to trust you more. Lord, help us to stand firm and believe your promises even when we have a difficult time believing in ourselves. Lord, you are more than able to turn situations around and make “all things work together for them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”. Lord, we believe your word. Equip us in our calling and increase our faith and boldness to step out in the areas that you have called us to. Lord, give us an obedient heart that pursues you and your instructions. Lord, bind our fears and lead us. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
Keep praying! Keep Trusting! Keep believing!
