Good morning! Often before I leave my house in the morning, I silently ask myself the best question, Mary, before you lock the door, do you have everything you need? However, even when I ask that question 1 out of 10 times, I forget something. Today, in 2 Peter, the author is reminding us that we have what we need. Join me as we read chapter 1 verses 3-4. Enjoy your day.

“³ By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. ⁴ And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.” – 2 Peter 1:3-4 NLT

Sisters and brothers let me reiterate what Peter was sharing in verse four:

• God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.
• He called us to himself by His glory and excellence.
• He has given us great and precious promises.
• So that we can share his divine nature and escape corruption.

Because we have everything we need to live a godly life, and have been called by God let us no longer be corrupted by our human desires. But let us boldly share His promises with believers and nonbelievers and live our lives accordingly so that we will be examples of Christ in the world.

No More Excuses: God Has Given Us Everything We Need For Living A Godly Life

The question is: are you ready?

Father God, thank you for your mercy and grace. Thank you for the peace that surpasses all understanding. Lord, as we walk in your mighty strength, guide our steps and align our will to yours. Lord, direct us in the way that we should go, build our faith, keep us connected to your word and protect it in our hearts. Lord, equip us with your knowledge and wisdom, giving us discernment to make the right decisions. Lord, help those who are the least, lost and last. Lord, help us to minister to those in need. Lord, help us to provide for them and give them the tools to provide for themselves. Lord, we lift up those who are fighting homelessness, human trafficking, substance abuse, etc. Lord, you know the need. Let us be your vessels to encourage and redirect someone’s life. Lord, we lift up the plans of the next months retreat and ask that you direct the details, that you speak and reveal things to the speakers and singers, that you prepare the hearts of the volunteers and prepare the women who will be attending. Lord, continue to work in each readers heart. Lord, we want to live a godly life. Lord, transform us into the people you have called us to be. Help us to stand firm in the faith and follow you all of our days. In Jesus name, amen.

Keep praying! Keep trusting! Keep pursuing the Lord!
