Search For Peace

Happy Friday! The Lord has blessed us with another day. Let’s make our actions pleasing to Him. Enjoy your day and for many of you, this three day weekend (Memorial Day). Honor those who have served, pray for the families who have lossed service men and women they loved, and pray for those who continue to serve and their families. Join me as we continue to read 1 Peter 3:10-12 NLT.

10 For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies.
11 Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace, and work to maintain it.
12 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face
    against those who do evil.”
[Psalm 34:12-26] – 1 Peter 3:10-12 NLT

These verses are so powerful. If we meditate on these verses, which Peter referred to from Psalm 34 (which was written by King David) our society would be so much better, our leadership across the world would improve and our ability to love and do what is right would be easier.

Things to meditate on from today through Monday (even a lifetime after):

  • Keep your tongue from speaking evil.
  • Keep your lips from telling lies.

How do you plan to do the two things above? _____

  • Turn away from evil.
  • Do good.
  • Search for peace and maintain it.

How do you plan to put the things above in place? _______

My favorite verse out of all of these is verse 11b, “Search for peace, and work to maintain it.” No matter what you are walking through or standing up against, know that the Lord is standing with you. Don’t worry about those who plot against you, stand in faith because the Lord will deliver us from it all. Search for peace and don’t let it go.

As we seek to apply these verses to our lives, the Lord will see us and His ears will be open to our prayers.

Father God, thank you for seeing us and opening your ears to hear us. Lord, we find our greatest comfort in you and we thank you for that. Lord, we ask you for forgiveness of our sins (known and unknown). Forgive us for the times we were evil, forgive us for speaking evil and telling lies. Lord, help us to turn away from those behaviors and seek goodness and peace. Lord, even when we try to change, we fail. Lord, we desperately need for you to transform us and make us new. Lord, help us to be living examples of you in this world. May we take all that we have learned about our responsibilities for our behaviors for the past week and a half and apply them to our lives daily. May others see the change in us, but Lord ultimately our primary goal is to please you. May we be pleasing in your sight. In Jesus name, amen.

Keep praying! Keep trusting! Keep pursuing the Lord!
