He is Risen

Happy Belated Ressurection Day! I hope you all enjoyed the day that we celebrate Jesus’ victory over sin and death. We should live each day as a celebration of the risen Lord, Jesus Christ. While I know many of you heard a sermon on the verses below, join me as we review it once more. Have a happy Monday – he has risen from the grave.

“Early on Sunday morning,[a] as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb.

Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.

Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.” – Matthew 28:1-7 NLT

Sisters and brothers, today as the new day is dawning don’t worry Jesus is risen. Here are two of many sections in the Bible to help us understand what Jesus’ death on the cross means for us.

  • Romans 5:6-11 NLT – “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.”
  • 1 Peter 1:3-5 NLT – “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.”

Father God, we thank you for the love you have for us. We don’t deserve anything you give, but we are grateful for you sending your son Jesus to save us from eternal separation from you. We confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, so that we may be forgiven and have eternal life in the kingdom of heaven. We believe Jesus rose from the dead and we ask you now to come into our lives and be our Lord and Savior. Lord, we repent of our sins. And, because your word is true, we confess that we are born again believers saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. Amen!
