What Are You Craving

Good morning! While I am traveling, I asked a dear friend to write a couple of devotions for the website. I’ve known Dora Lozano (see Bio below) for 17+ years, and I pray you enjoy today’s devotion.

“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” – Galatians 5:16 (NLT)

What would happen if we consulted the Holy Spirit before we made a decision? In John 14:16 (CSB) Jesus promised, in His absence, to leave us the Holy Spirit as a counselor. Why wouldn’t we access this relationship to protect ourselves
from actions that could prevent us from experiencing emotional, mental, spiritual, physical or financial pain?
Am I alone in haphazardly or instinctively making decisions where I was unconcerned if they were bad or good? I didn’t think so. I have entered into agreements and made purchases, that, had I consulted the Holy Spirit before making them; I may have avoided the trauma in the aftermath.

Sisters and brothers, let’s tap in to the Holy Spirit’s power and change the axis of our lives.
Lord, We thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Forgive us for being negligent in accessing your power. Remind us that the Holy Spirit IS OUR Counselor. Make our spirits sensitive to Your Holy Spirit direction.
Holy Spirit, we commit to consult you before we make decisions. We agree to listen and follow through on the guidance we receive from your consultation. If we are unsure of the word(s) we receive, give us confirmation. Thank you for remaining with us as we live out our lives on Earth. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
