Good morning! I hope all is well. Yesterday the Sadducees asked Jesus a question. Today, we will continue in Matthew 22 and read Jesus’ response to their question on the ressurection. Enjoy today’s reading and your day.
“29 Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God. 30 For when the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. In this respect they will be like the angels in heaven.
31 “But now, as to whether there will be a resurrection of the dead—haven’t you ever read about this in the Scriptures? Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, God said, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’[Exodus 3:6] So he is the God of the living, not the dead.” 33 When the crowds heard him, they were astounded at his teaching. – Matthew 22:29-33 NLT
The Sadducees did not understand the power of God. The Sadducees did not believe in the ressurection, but Jesus pointed out what God said in Exodus 3:6 “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. The text never said I was. God is the God of the living, he is still the God over Isaac, Jacob and Abraham who will also share in resurrection of the righteous. Jesus was very clear about the scriptures. He left no room for the religious leaders to bring confusion and chaos.
Jesus is clear
In John 11:25-26 KJV: “25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
Do you believe this?
Brothers and sisters, that is why it is so important to know the word of God yourself. Read it. Allow God to speak to you as you read. Do you believe?
Father God in the name of Jesus, we come to you in prayer. Lord, there are so many options to hear and read your word, Lord speak to us as we read. Lord, minister to our hearts and minds. Lord, send out your word and help us all to live accordingly. Lord, you know everything about us, Lord you know how to reach each one of us where we are. So Lord, get our attention. Lord, shake us and wake us up from a complacent life so that we may live an abundant life in you. Teach us your ways. Correct us when we are wrong. Lead us in the way we should go. Lord, help us to believe more each day. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep praying, the Lord hears you! Keep seeking! Keep Believing!
