Clearing Debt

Happy Monday! As I look over Friday’s reading,  I’m still captivated by the number  490. If it’s 490 times and there are 365 days in a year, then I know for certain that I am in a deficit. Yet, I have the hope, that gives me confidence in believing Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. Lord Jesus, thank you for making it possible for me to be forgiven beyond 490 times. I choose to go and send no more. Enjoy today’s reading.

22 “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven![j]

23 “Therefore, the Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king who decided to bring his accounts up to date with servants who had borrowed money from him. 24 In the process, one of his debtors was brought in who owed him millions of dollars. 25 He couldn’t pay, so his master ordered that he be sold—along with his wife, his children, and everything he owned—to pay the debt.26 “But the man fell down before his master and begged him, ‘Please, be patient with me, and I will pay it all.’ 27 Then his master was filled with pity for him, and he released him and forgave his debt.” – Matthew 18:22-26 NLT

Our God is patient with us. He desires for everyone to repent of their sins, and to turn back to God. The Lord is willing to forgive our sin debt. We only need to ask Him for forgiveness and to turn away from those sins. Are you willing to ask God for forgiveness of known and unknown sins? Are you willing to walk away from the sins that are keeping you bound in sin?

Father God, you are always patient with us. Lord, you supply our needs and you are the only one who forgives our sins and clears our debt forever. Lord, thank you! Thank you Father, for sending your son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Lord, continue to work in us. Change our hearts and minds to reflect on your goodness and choose to follow you. Lord Jesus, we want to look more like you every day. Release the chains of sin and addiction that keeps us bound in sin. In Jesus name, amen.

Good morning…..thanks for the Word this morning, yesterday at Crossroads, pastor Chuck spoke about the same thing in reference to the same story, but it was also mentioned how that same individual was faced with the same predicament…..would he too give grace and forgiveness to another man that owed him? Have a great week Mary.
