Happy Wednesday! This morning we are continuing in Matthew 14, where the disciples are in the boat and they see Jesus walking on water. Enjoy today’s reading.
28 Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”
29 “Yes, come,” Jesus said.
So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.”
31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” – Matthew 14:28-31 NLT
Wow. Peter was bold, he wanted to walk out on the water like Jesus. And Jesus invited Peter to join Him. Peter was walking on water…he was actually doing what Jesus invited him to do. His eyes and heart were focused. However, the strong winds and waves frightened Peter and he began to sink because fear was overtaking him.
Have you been in a situation where everything was going right and you receive a message/call that something was going wrong or had gone wrong? Sometimes, as a result of that one/multiple thing(s) we become paralyzed by fear, unsteady and unable to make good progress. In order to break that fear or restraint, we need to be like Peter and call on the Lord to save us.
If you hear the Lord call you and he says come…follow Him. Go towards the truth and light. When you call out for Jesus to help you or save you, remember when you accepted Him as Lord and Savior of your life…He Saved You then and He will save you now. So, no matter what is ahead, know the Lord has already won the battle and He is victorious in all things. He will continue to reach out and grab us when we call on Him. Have faith. Keep trusting Him. Rise up and keep moving forward in Jesus’ strength and power.
Father God, thank you for your grace and mercy in our lives. We praise you because you are faithful and are worthy of praise. Lord, thank you for saving us from eternal hell and separation from God. Lord, as we seek to follow you, keep our eyes focused on you. Don’t let us be distracted by the strong winds and waves that surround us. Help us to walk in your power and strength so that everything we do will bring glory to you. Lord, on days that we forget how powerful you are in our situations, remove any doubt we might have about your plans for our lives and the lives of our loved ones. In Jesus name, amen!
Keep seeking the Lord! Continue to trust His plan. Keep praying!
