Weeds amongst Wheat

Happy Friday! Today’s verses cover a portion of the second parable in Matthew 13. It’s the parable of the of the farmer scattering seed. We will read verses 24-30 today and next week when we read verses 36-43 we will read how Jesus explains the meaning. Have a wonderful day and weekend! 😊

“24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. 25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. 26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.

27 “The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’

28 “‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed.
“‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked.
29 “‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’”” – Matthew 13:24-30 NLT

Sisters and brothers, as we face things in the world, know the enemy is real. He is trying to sidetrack us and choke us at the root of our foundation with weeds of evil. Don’t fear, the Lord is the greatest weed killer around. He will strengthen you and sustain you so that even when we are in the world, we won’t be of the world. Stand firm, the Lord will fight for you. Don’t let weeds rob your beauty in Christ.

Father God, creator of all things thank you for creating us. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for your son Jesus. Lord, thank you for healing us. Lord, you are our rock and shield. You know our name. You hear us when we call. Lord, as we go through today and live amongst evil in the world – protect us. Lord, guide our thoughts and actions so that we are pleasing to you. Lord, keep us amazed by all that you are doing. Don’t let us miss one detail. Lord,  continue to change us and use us for your kingdom and glory. Transform us Lord. In Jesus name, amen.
