Happy Monday! The Lord is good in all his ways. He instructs and guides us. He demonstrates his unfailing love and compassion towards us. As we continue in Matthew chapter 10, Jesus reminds the disciples of what they will encounter on their way to share the gospel message. Enjoy today’s devotion and your day.
“24 “The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25 It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household”!– Matthew 10:24-25 NLT
In the above verses, the Lord was reminding the disciples of the difficulties he encountered as he ministered to the people. While it may not seem encouraging, but Jesus is comforting the disciples by letting them know that they will encounter the same difficulties or resistance he also experienced.
In that way, the disciples were told they will not be above their teacher (Jesus). If religious leaders and other accusers said, Jesus (Lord over all), was Beelzebul (Satan, prince of demons), then Jesus’ followers/disciples should not be surprised when they are accused of the same thing or called certain names.
Therefore, sisters and brothers let’s us not be discouraged by the trials we will encounter along the way as we proclaim the gospel message and live our lives for Christ Jesus. Trust that the Lord our God is and will be with us everyday. He will guide and instruct us in the way(s) we should go.
Lord, thank you for today. Thank for protecting and loving us. Thank you for giving us a sound mind and a peaceful spirit. Lord as we go through the day, keep us focused on you. Lord, heal us in every area of our lives. Speak to us and rekindle our fire and passion for you. Lord, no matter the difficulties ahead we want to be more like you, teach us your ways and show us how to minister to the least, the lost and the last. Lord, keep us safe from harm and teach us how to rest in you. In Jesus name we pray, amen!
Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep seeking.
