Good morning! Have you ever been in a room during a raffle prize giveaway. The room is absolutely silent as the numbers are read. Then the M.C., say 14000 “2”, and you hear aww…and then a loud scream it’s me…its her. Some are excited to see what the prize was while others sat anxiously for their number to be called next. Today, we will read the names of the disciples that were called by Jesus…the greatest M.C. alive and what they were given.
“Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness. 2 Here are the names of the twelve apostles:
first, Simon (also called Peter),
then Andrew (Peter’s brother),
James (son of Zebedee),
John (James’s brother),
3 Philip,
Bartholomew,
Thomas,
Matthew (the tax collector),
James (son of Alphaeus),
Thaddaeus,
4 Simon (the zealot),
Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him).” – Matthew 10:1-4 NLT
Last week we read, Jesus’ instructions to pray for laborers. Jesus called these men who had different occupations and varied backgrounds and they answered his call.
What did Jesus give the disciples in verse 1?______
The Lord is not digging in a bag, picking random names. He is calling you. The Lord is calling us and he will give us the same authority and ability to heal in His name.
Will you answer the call? _______
Will you follow Jesus? ________
Father God, we thank you for your goodness. We thank you for son Jesus Christ. Lord, thank you for calling the 12 disciples and for calling us as believers to follow after you. Lord, thank you for the authority and power that you give us through your name.
Lord, as we go about ministering and teaching people about the gospel message strengthen our faith and transform our minds. Lord, direct our steps and align our will to yours. Lord, you are our safe refuge and protector.Lord, equip and help us to teach the gospel message without fear.
Lord, we ask for healing in marriages and for the people who are ill. Lord, watch over all the children who are going to school today. Lord, protect them as they go to and from. Lord, give them insight into their purpose here on earth, give them peace as they enter their classrooms. Lord, be with the teachers. Give them the tools that they need to explain the subjects and discernment to help those who are struggling (e.g., mentally and emotionally). Lord, be our help today. Continue to transform us into who you have called us to be. Lord open our eyes to see things as you see them. Lord, be with the readers who read these messages. Lord, wherever there is lack of faith, strengthen it. Where there is pain and suffering, Lord ease those storms and bring healing. Lord where there is loneliness, fill them with your love and comfort. Lord you know every need we have, Lord work in us, on behalf us and in spite of us. Lord, we surrender our will to you and want to follow you for the rest of our days. In Jesus name, amen.
