Good morning! Enjoy today’s reading.
“13 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. 14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14 NLT
Jesus continues to teach us the way to life. The Pharisees were acting the part of being righteous but their hearts were far from it. He explained that many people will try various ways to get to heaven (e.g., self-righteousness and works), but the Lord knows our heart.
I like the way Luke tells his account in Luke chapter 13 verses 23-27 NLT:
“23 Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few be saved?”
He replied, 24 “Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail. 25 When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’ 26 Then you will say, ‘But we ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ 27 And he will reply, ‘I tell you, I don’t know you or where you come from. Get away from me, all you who do evil.’“
Right now, it’s not too late to seek salvation. It’s not too late to seek God and invite him into your heart. It’s not too late to ask Him to change you from the inside out.
Will you trust Him with your life? _________
Father God, we thank you for everything you have done for us. Lord, you are absolutely amazing. You are gracious and merciful. Lord, you know what we are facing every day. Lord, you know the anxiety, worry and fear that tries to steal our joy. Lord, we need your peace today. Lord, pour out your perfect peace. Lord, help us to understand your word and live according to your precepts. Lord, when this life is over we want to be with you. Lord, soften our hearts and our heads so that we may hear from you and align our will to yours. Lord, thank you for answered prayers. Lord, thank you for leading us to eternal life. Lord, while the road is narrow and difficult there is no other road we want to be on. Lord, strengthen us for the journey. Equip us with your armor and increase our faith. Lord, our hope is in you and your promises. Lead us in the way we should go. Continue to change us. Lord, be with us as we go throughout the day. Lord, give us favor as we pursue the things that please you. Lord, touch the sick, heal the broken and restore what the enemy has tried to claim as his own. Lord, heal those who are struggling with mental illness and depression. Lord, comfort those who are grieving. Lord, cover and shield us from the darts of the enemy. Lord, protect our homes and families. Lord, we need you. We really need you. Help us, Lord. In Jesus name, amen.
