Happy Wednesday! Praying the Lord will continue to bless you. Have a wonderful day.
“Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5 NLT
Google dictionary describes meek as: “quiet, gentle, and easily imposed on; submissive.” Often times in our culture, meekness is not seen as a viable trait for success. In fact, if you are quiet and meek some believe it is a sign of weakness. However, the word of God says the meek are blessed and will inherit the earth.
From a biblical perspective, the Greek word meek is translated gentle in Matthew 11:29; 21:5; and 1 Peter 3:15. In Numbers 12:3, Moses is described as meek, but if you read a few verses before and after, you will see how God defended Moses in his state of being meek. Also, in Philippians 2:5-8 you can read about Jesus and how he modeled meekness, “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!”
As Christians our meekness is full dependence on God, humble in Spirit recognizing our position to God. As we seek to live out our purpose in life, let us make sure that we commit ourselves to the Lord and submit to His power and authority in our lives.
What areas in your life do you need to be meek?_____
Father God, thank you for today. Thank you for your continued mercy and grace upon us. Lord, we stand in awe of your power and glory. Lord, help us to be fully committed to you and your plan for our lives. Lord, forgive us when we take control over situations without consulting you first. Lord, teach us to be meek in your eyes. Help us to gently share the gospel message with others (1 Peter 3:15) so that they will commit their lives to you. Lord, we desire to serve you with our whole heart, teach us how to glorify your name instead of our own. Lord, work in us and change us. In Jesus name, amen.
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
