Happy Wednesday! “Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” Galatians 6:7-10 NLT
Sometimes, well to be honest I rarely, go down the aisles that have planting seeds, but when I do I begin to envision myself as a farmer. I buy seed packs – tomatoes, pumpkins, sunflower seeds, marigolds, etc. However, by the time I get home, I realize I don’t feel like going in the backyard to dig, plant and water the seeds, and hope that something will bloom – for me, that is just one more thing to do. So, now I have seed packs in my kitchen drawer waiting – seeds just waiting to bloom and become something useful.
In our spiritual life we do the same thing, we hear the word of God, get all excited about being a disciple or warrior for God, then we go home or to work and realize how much work and discipline it takes live a life to please the Spirit. So we put those things aside or stuff them into a drawer in our heart and/or mind until we are ready to change or share the word of God with others. Well today, let me encourage you not to give up. Continue to plant the seeds of truth, the seeds of godly love, the seeds of patience, the seeds of godly wisdom and encouragement. Trust the Lord to water those seeds. Then watch how the Lord begins to transform you and the seeds you plant into an abundant harvest for his glory.
Someone is waiting to be transformed from a dried up seed to something beautiful to be used by God. Are you ready to plant seeds today? ______
Father God, thank you for your grace and mercy. Lord, thank you for planting the word of God into our hearts. Lord, continue to water us and change us. Lord, create in us a spirit that delights in your ways. Help us to get beyond ourselves so that we will sow seeds for the kingdom. Lord, we want to be your workers in the field. Lord, equip us with the knowledge and wisdom to penetrate hearts and minds with your word. Lord, be with those out in the mission fields and strengthen their faith. Lord, be with those at work and school – in those mission fields, let them know they are not alone and strengthen them. Lord, water us. In Jesus name, amen!
Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying!
