Compassionate and Forgiving

Happy Friday! This message concludes chapter 2.

And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life. They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.”And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.” 2 Peter 2:19-22 NLT

The false teachers were problematic for the early church. They led new believers down deceitful paths and held them to standards the teachers were unable to keep. It was destructive and led followers to turn away from their faith.

If you are a believer and have walked away from your relationship with the Lord, it is time to turn back to him. The Lord is a justice God who will correct wrongs, but our God is a compassionate father who loves his children and desires a relationship with you. He forgives and restores. We only need to ask.

Father God, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for loving us. Lord, we thank you for your word that speaks life into us. Lord, we need you. We need your truth, we need your protection, your guidance and comfort. Lord at times we are at a loss on how we are going to deal with certain situations, so we turn to you – All Mighty, Creator of all things and Shelter in the storm. Lord help us to hold on to you in good times and bad. Give us peace in our homes, give us peace at work/school, give us discernment and help to stand confidently trusting you. Keep us Lord, be with our children, spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends. Penetrate our hearts. Let us hunger for you. Transform us to be more like you. In Jesus name, Amen!

Looking forward to reading chapter 3 next week. Have a blessed weekend.
