They Promise Freedom But They Are Slaves

Good morning! Peter was highly concerned about these false teachers misleading young Christian converts.  Declaring the false teachers are boastful and trapped in their own sin.

These people are as useless as dried-up springs or as mist blown away by the wind. They are doomed to blackest darkness. They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception. They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.” 2 Peter 2:17-19 NLT

It is easy to get caught up in the ways of the world. It is easy to accept what someone else dictates or states without checking the facts for ourselves. It is essential that you continue to read the Bible. Join a church Bible study/life group or attend Sunday school to learn more about the word. The tools are available, you simply need to use them.

Dear Lord, help us to not grow weary as we strive to be Christians in a world where people who profess to be Christians are far from being Christians. Lord, we want to know more about your truth/word. Help us when we struggle in our walk. Help us to be a better reflection of your love, compassion toward others, and give us wisdom to do your will. Protect new Christians in their walk. Lord, help them to get planted in a church that teaches the word and disciples them in their walk so that they may mature in their faith. Help us not to be slaves to sin and corruption. Keep us, protect us, cover our families and heal areas of brokenness. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Keep praying! Keep seeking! Keep trusting!
