Good Morning! “In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7 NLT
My husband and I went to a couples conference a few years ago. The focus was women want to be loved and men want to be respected. It was a clear biblical message that allowed us to embrace our portion of these verses and Ephesians 5:28-30. Men love your wives. Love her and protect her by the way you treat her. Allow God to lead your actions, your place of authority as a leader of your home, and your partnership with your wife. The greatest example of this is Christ’s love for us (the church).
Husbands have you heard from the Lord lately? Are you allowing the Lord’s love for you and your wife to be displayed in your marriage? Are you making decisions for your marriage that will honor the Lord? Are you loving your wife like Christ loves the church?
Heavenly Father, I lift up the readers who are reading this today. Lord, I ask that you work in their hearts (married or unmarried) and I ask that you pour out your spirit upon our marriages and/or our thoughts toward marriage. Lord, I pray for those who are struggling in their marriage, in their singleness and with these verses – I ask that you will guide our decisions, actions, and responses as we seek to honor you. Give us the discernment and an obedient heart as we learn to trust you first in our marriage and glorify you by loving and respecting the spouses we have chosen. Continue to work in us so that we may glorify you in all things. In Jesus name, Amen.
Keep praying! Keep seeking! Keep trusting! Keep praying! Keep praying!
